Late in the evening on the first weekend in March, an emergency call was made from Security First Insurance to the cellphone of one of Baxter Restoration's project managers, Keir Lee. A giant tree in the backyard of a resident's home had fallen, damaging both their roof and side yard fence.
Our technicians who were on call went to the residence immediately to assess the damage and determined the tree was too large for them to remove. They called on their friends from Tree Works Now, a leading Orlando tree service company, for help.
First thing Monday morning, a twelve man crew from Tree Works Now, along with Keir Lee, arrived at the house with cranes, chippers, trucks, and chainsaws. They spent six hours safely removing the fallen tree and loading it up to be hauled off.
After the tree was removed from the property, technicians from Baxter Restoration returned to temporarily fix the roof, in order to avoid any water or debris from entering the house. Three areas of the roof were damaged and needed to be sealed with a tarp.
It was determined the entire roof would need to be replaced. While the old roof was being removed, our technicians noticed damaged decking that was beginning to rot, so the decking was replaced in addition to the entire roof system. Two small sections of the chain link fence in the side yard were also damaged by the fallen tree and repaired.
